Dog Training

Private Dog Training

We all wish for a well-behaved dog that's safe around our family and friends. But dogs have their own agenda with items like: meeting (or telling off) other dogs, getting places fast, chasing prey-like things, and protecting favorite toys and sleeping spots.

Is your dog pulling on leash, jumping on guests, or growling at you? Is your puppy chewing on everything in sight? We can help. We work with you to change your dog or puppy's behavior with fast, effective, and exclusively humane training methods.

How We Work With You

Step 1. Initial consultation. 90 minutes.

Every training program begins with this extended session. We carry out an in-depth evaluation of your dog and get you started with hands-on exercises and management advice.

Step 2. One-on-one training sessions. 60 minutes.

Based on the information gathered in the initial consultation, we design a customized program to get you the relief and results you want. Then we work with you to implement the program in your home and neighborhood.

(Length of program depends on your training goals and the severity of your dog's behavior problem.)

Training Philosophy

We use only positive reinforcement training based on scientific principles of learning theory and operant conditioning. Using the things that naturally motivate your dog - toys, treats, praise, balls thrown, doors opened - we change behavior quickly and effectively without punishment or threats.

Positive reinforcement training is endorsed by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB), the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Tufts Animal Behavior Clinic, humane societies across the country, and hundreds of renowned dog trainers and animal behaviorists.
